BSNLEU is organising an All India BSNL Young Workers Convention at Bhopal tomorrow the 30.09.2018. Young Workers, numbering around 250, coming from all over the country, to participate in this Convention. Apart from BSNLEU’s President, General Secretary and Dy. General Secretary, Com.Prabhir Purkayasta, General Secretary, Delhi Science Forum, is also addressing the Convention. The Madhya Pradesh circle union is making excellent arrangement to make the Convention a memorable one.

The AUAB has heartily congratulated the Non-Executives and Executives of BSNL, for making the 1st day strike a roaring success. In it’s meeting held at 15:30 hrs today, the AUAB reviewed the 1st day strike. General Secretaries and senior office bearers of all the constituents of the AUAB attended. As per the report received from circles, the 1st day strike is near total. It is also observed that the strike is taking place in a totally peaceful manner. On one side, in it’s statement issued through the Press Information Bureau late last evening, the DoT had stated that, it is in the process of negotiating with the AUAB, to resolve the issues. However, on the other side, the DoT has not come forward to invite the AUAB for talks, even after the employees have en-masse joined the 1st day strike. This only shows the double- talk of the DoT. Under these circumstances, today’s meeting of the AUAB, resolved to call upon the employees to further intensify the strike, and make it a cent percent success on the 2nd and 3rd days.

ट्राई द्वारा जारी डेटा के अनुसार केवल रिलायंस जियो और बीएसएनएल ने ही  फरवरी, 2019 में नए ग्राहक जोड़े हैं। वोडाफोन आईडिया और एयरटेल ने अपने ग्राहक खोए हैं। रिलायंस जियो ने फरवरी, 2019 में 77.93 लाख नए ग्राहकों को जोड़ा हैं। इसी समयावधि में बीएसएनएल ने भी 8.99 लाख नए ग्राहक जोड़े हैं।  वोडाफोन आईडिया ने  57.87 लाख ग्राहकों और  एयरटेल ने अपने 49,896 ग्राहक खोए हैं।

Ever since the formation of the government after the recent Parliament election, much was being talked about the revival of BSNL and MTNL. Many meetings were held, headed by the Cabinet Secretary and the Principal Secretary of the PMO.  It is surprising to note that all of a sudden, news appeared in the media today, that a Group of Ministers (GoM), headed by Shri Amit Shah, Hon’ble Home Minister,  is formed to look into the revival of BSNL and MTNL. Among others,  Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble MoC & IT, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Finance Minister, are also members of the GoM. It is also heard that the first meeting of this GoM is being held today itself.

The Circle Executive Committee meeting of NE-2 circle was held at Imphal on 11.09.2019. Com.K. Saheb Singh, Circle Secretary, welcomed everyone and briefly addressed the house. Com.Gakul Borah, Treasurer (CHQ), addressed the house and explained about the National level and BSNL specific issues such as 8^th Membership Verification, revival of BSNL, VRS, reduction of retirement age, etc. The meeting reviewed the preparations for the 8^th Membership Verification. Com.M.Kula Singh, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA, NE II Circle and Com.H.Yaima Singh, Vice-President, NE-2 Circle also addressed.

BTEU was one of the signatories for the hunger strike organised today. Representatives of BTEU also participated in the discussion held with the Director (HR) on 22.11.2019. At the end of that meeting, the participant unions came to the conclusion that the talks held with the Director (HR) was unproductive and hence decided to go ahead with the hunger strike. However, late yesterday (Sunday), BTEU wrote to the CMD BSNL, expressing it’s satisfaction over the steps taken by the BSNL Management, and withdrawing from the hunger strike. Com.R.C.Pandey, GS, BTEU, told Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, that BTEU had withdrawn from the hunger strike, because of the direction given by the “higher-ups”.

It is a great news that, the Optic Fibre Cable, laid down to connect the Andaman & Nicobar Islands with the main land of India, is to be commissioned soon. A few years ago, BSNLEU raised the demand that, Optic Fibre Cable should be laid down to connect Andaman & Nicobar Islands with the main land. It has become a reality now. The Optic Fibre Cable has been laid down and the Acceptance and Testing has also been completed. Thus, high speed broadband and mobile data connectivity between Andaman & Nicobar Island and the main land of India will become a reality soon.

The Circle Executive Committee meeting of BSNLEU, NE-I circle, is being held online today. Com.D.A. Shylla, Circle President is presiding over.  Totally, 28 comrades are attending this meeting. Com.Shivjee Ray, Circle Secretary, presented the report on activities. Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, inaugurated the meeting. Com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, also addressed the meeting. Both the GS and Dy.GS explained about the present status in BSNL’s Revival, various staff issues, attacks on the Public Sector, as well as on Labour Rights, by the government. Both the GS and Dy.GS underlined the need to fight for the Revival of BSNL and also for protecting the Public Sector. Thereafter, deliberations by the Executive Committee members started and is going on.

Leaders of BSNL unions and associations, submitted memorandum to Hon’ble MPs, shri K. Parasuraman, Thanjavur and shri M.Udhayakumar, Madurai.

Each and every conference of BSNLEU turns out to be a milestone. However, the 8th All India Conference held at Chennai will be considered as the best conference. It is because of the quality of the debate conducted by the delegates, and the involvement with which the delegates and observers participated in the conference. The house remained jam-packed till the last minute of the last day of the conference.

Circle Executive Committee meeting of BSNLEU, NE I Circle, was held on 10th July, at Shillong. It was presided over by com D.A.Shylla, Circle President. Com Shivjee Roy,CS,NE I Circle, initiated the discussions. Com Gopal Das, CS, AIBDPA also addressed the meeting. Com Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS attended the meeting and explained in detail about the background in which the AUAB has taken decision for agitational programme, for the implementation of the assurances given by the Hon’ble MoS(C).He also explained about the decision of the AUAB, to launch the movement called “BSNL AT YOUR DOORSTEPS” for gearing up the sales and marketing activities of BSNL, with a view to boost the cash flow of the Company. The meeting discussed in detail and decided to participate in the “Worker-Kisan Sangarsh Rally, to be held at New Delhi on 5th September 2018 and also in the young workers convention to be held at Bhopal on 9th September 2018.

A few months back, BSNL Corporate Office has issued letter to All the CGMs, directing to retrench 30% of the contract workers, in the name of reducing the expenditure of the Company. Since then, BSNLEU is seriously taking up the issue with the CMD BSNL and the Director (HR) for the reengagement of the retrenched contract workers. BSNLEU has suggested that these retrenched contract workers can be redeployed in sales and marketing activities, thereby creating a win-win situation for both the workers and the Company. Unfortunately, Corporate Office has taken belated action on the suggestion of BSNLEU, and has forwarded the letter of BSNLEU to the circles, calling for their views. The efforts of BSNLEU will continue till the contract workers are re-engaged.

A meeting of the AUAB was held in NFTE’s office at New Delhi today the 11.12.2018. Com. Chandeshwar Singh, Chairman, AUAB, presided over the meeting. Com. P. Abhimanyu, Convenor, AUAB, welcomed everyone and presented the agenda items. The meeting discussed ways and means to ensure the speedy implementation of the settlement reached in the meeting held with the Hon'ble MoS(C). The meeting also decided to direct the AUAB at circle and district levels to organise Joint General Body meetings and explain the settlement reached between the Hon’ble Minsiter of State for Communications (IC) on 03.12.2018. The AUAB has also decided that these Joint General Body meetings should be completed during the period from 26th to 29th December, 2018. The CHQ of BSNLEU requests all circle and district secretaries to make note of this decision and to take the initiative to successfully organise the Joint General Body meetings.

The 3 day strike called on by the AUAB is a tremendous success. The ordinary employee of BSNL is firmly standing by the justified demands put forth by the AUAB. Any number of lies and slanders being spread by black-legs and betrayers are not deterring the ordinary employee, who is determined to ensure the financial viability of BSNL and the future of BSNL’s employees. The ordinary workers of Campbell Bay Exchange in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are the classic example. This exchange is 2,400 kms. away from New Delhi. But, distance is not a matter. The call of the AUAB is implemented and the small number of workers of this Exchange are on strike. This is the impact of the strike.

कांग्रेस पार्टी के अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी ने कल घोषणा की, कि वें नीति आयोग को खत्म कर योजना आयोग (planning commission) वापिस लावेंगे। स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात वर्ष 1950 में देश की अर्थव्यवस्था योजनाबद्ध तरीके से विकसित करने के उद्देश्य से योजना आयोग का गठन किया गया था। किन्तु, वर्ष 2014 में सत्ता हासिल करने के बाद प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने योजना आयोग को बंद कर नीति आयोग स्थापित किया था। इसकी स्थापना के बाद से ही नीति आयोग को एक सूत्रीय जिम्मेदारी दी गई थी, भारत के पब्लिक सेक्टर को खत्म करने की। यह स्मरण करना बेहद जरूरी है कि नीति आयोग द्वारा BSNL और MTNL को बंद करने की अनुशंसा की जा चुकी है। साथ ही, नीति आयोग ने BSNL को 4G स्पेक्ट्रम आवंटन प्रस्ताव को भी निरस्त कर दिया है। नीति आयोग ने यह सवाल खड़ा किया कि जब निजी कंपनियां 4G सेवाएं दे ही रही हैं, तो BSNL को 4G स्पेक्ट्रम देने का क्या औचित्य है ? नीति आयोग शत प्रतिशत तौर पर PSU विरोधी और कॉर्पोरेट समर्थक है। ऐसी स्थिति में, सत्ता प्राप्ति पर नीति आयोग को खत्म करने और पुनः योजना आयोग स्थापित करने की कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष राहुल गांधी की घोषणा का BSNLEU स्वागत करती है।

As per the call of BSNLEU and BSNLCCWF, a massive dharna was organised at BSNL Corporate Office today, demanding immediate payment of wage arrears to the contract workers, and also demanding to stop their retrenchment. More than 300 comrades participated in the dharna, coming from NTR, UP(West), Uttarakhand and Haryana circles. Com.Animesh Mitra, SG, BSNLCCWF, presided over the dharna. Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, BSNLEU, inaugurated the dharna and explained about the demands and demanded the immediate payment of wage arrears to contract workers and also to stop their retrenchment. The dharna was also addressed by Com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, BSNLEU, Com.R.S.Chouhan, Vice-President(CHQ), BSNLEU, Com.Gakul Borah, Treasurer (CHQ), Com.Naresh Pal, Organising Secretary (CHQ), BSNLEU, Com.Upender Singh Teotia, CS, BSNLEU, UP(West), Com.Arup Sarkar and Com.Nithyanand Bahuguna of BSNLCCWF. A delegation consisting of Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS, BSNLEU, Com.Animesh Mitra, SG, BSNLCCWF and Com.Upender Singh Teotia, CS, UP(West) circle, went to meet the CMD BSNL to present the memorandum. However, the meeting did not take place, since the CMD BSNL had already left for the meeting of the GoM. Com.V.A.N. Namboodiri, President, BSNLCCWF and Com.K.G. Jayaraj, GS, AIBDPA, greeted the dharna. CHQ, BSNLEU, heartily congratulates all the comrades participated in today’s dharna.

An election campaign meeting of BSNLEU was held at Dehradun on 11th September, 2019. The meeting was presided over by Com.Kothari, senior leader. Com.Kishori Lal Chamouli, District Secretary, Dehradun, welcomed all. Com.K.S.Soun, Vice-President(CHQ) and Circle Secretary, Uttarakhand, Com. Unniyal, DS and Com. Thakral, District President of Tehri also addressed the meeting. Com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, explained about issues related to the revival of BSNL and achievements of the union since the last Membership Verification.

As per reports received from the circles the one day hunger strike, called on by BSNLEU, FNTO, BSNL MS, BSNL ATM and BSNL OA, has been organised very successfully throughout the country. This is despite the fact that the BSNL Management took all out efforts to crush the hunger strike. At New Delhi, a very good hunger strike was organised at the Eastern Court. Leaders of BSNLEU, FNTO, BSNL MS, BSNL ATM and BSNL OA took part in the hunger strike, together with a good number of comrades. BSNLEU heartily thanks everyone, for making this hunger strike a success. If the BSNL Management does not take constructive steps to settle the demands, more intensive movement will become inevitable.
