NFTE should discipline it's rogue circle secretary, C.K.Mathivanan - an open appeal to NFTE leadership.

The All India Centre of BSNLEU has taken disciplinary action against one of it’s Chennai Circle office bearers. This is purely BSNLEU’s internal matter.

Others have no business to poke their nose into it. However, C.K. Mathivanan, the rogue circle secretary of NFTE, Chennai Circle, has made a derogatory criticism on his website, about this.

Everyone knows that C.K.Mathivanan is a man without any discipline or decency. When Com.V.A.N. Namboodiri was the General Secretary of BSNLEU, C.K. Mathivanan used to insult and attack him. After taking over as General Secretary, Com.P.Abhimanyu has become the target for his attacks. The worst part of story is that, C.K.Mathivanan is abusing and attacking his own leaders as well.

Some years back, Com.Chandeswar Singh, General Secretary, NFTE, came to address an all union seminar at Chennai. There, he was gheraoed in the public place, by C.K. Mathivanan and his thugs for a pretty long time. So far as we know, such a misfortune has never happened to any other General Secretary.

Apart from these, another key All India Office bearer of NFTE has also become the victim of C.K.Mathivanan’s attacks.  C.K.Manthivanan wrote on his circle union website that, this leader has changed his Union, as many times as he changed his shirts.

When the JAC leaders signed agreement with the BSNL Management, settling 78.2% IDA merger, C.K. Mathivanan, wrote on his website that, the All India leaders have surrendered the interests of the workers. He even went to the extent of organising protest meetings, condemning the agreement. However, when the order for 78.2% IDA merger was issued, C.K.Mathivanan silently received the benefits and enjoyed.

The AUAB is uniting the entire officers and employees of BSNL and is continuously fighting against the government, to safeguard BSNL and it’s employees. However, C.K. Mathivanan has made it his habit to attack and ridicule the AUAB.   This issue has already been raised at the All India AUAB meetings, with NFTE leadership. Even now, NFTE is not a part of the AUAB in Chennai circle.

A few months back, once again C.K. Mathivanan, insulted Com.Chandeswar Singh, General Secretary, NFTE. What C.K.Mathivanan wrote on his website, goes on like this :- "The General Secretary, who calls himself a communist, kept on waiting for the Telecom Minister at Patna airport. But, on his arrival, the Minister ignored the leader and did not even bother to look at his face. However, the General Secretary, kept following the Minister, with folded hands. Why this pathetic situation? "

It is also a fact that, C.K.Mathivanan did not spare even great leaders like Com.O.P.Gupta and  Com.Jagan. Normally, C.K. Mathivanan used to refer Com.O.P.Gupta as *“that old man”.* Frequently, he has abused both Com.O.P.Gupta and Com.Jagan in filthy language.

Whatever happens inside NFTE is their internal matter. But, if the NFTE leadership allows C.K.Mathivanan to hurl abuses at BSNLEU and AUAB, it will not be appropriate.

Hence, BSNLEU wishes to make an appeal to the NFTE leadership, that it is time for them to discipline C.K. Mathivanan.

Only Jio and BSNL increased their customers in Oct.2018.

It is a matter of great encouragement that, apart from Reliance Jio, there is only one company which increased it's customers in October, 2018, and that company is BSNL. All other companies in the Indian telecom sector have lost their customers. According to the TRAI report, only Jio and BSNL increased their customers in Oct.2018. Jio added 1 crore customers, while BSNL increased 3.66 lakh customers.  BSNL's customer addition may look small, compared to the addition made by Reliance Jio. But, BSNL's performance is a very big achievement, compared to the performance of Vodafone which has lost a massive 73.61 lakh customers. Airtel has lost 18.64 lakh customers, Tata Tele Services has lost 9.25 lakh customers, MTNL has lost 8,068 customers, and RCom has lost 3,831 customers. All these companies have lost a whopping 1.01 crore customers.

The United States black lists Huawei.

Huawei Technologies is black listed by the US government yesterday. According to this, Huawei cannot buy parts and components from the US companies. In a statement, the US government has stated that, Huawei engaged in activities that are contrary to US national security and foreign policy interests. What the US government has stated, is only a lame excuse. The real reason is that, the US government wants to cripple the growth of Huawei. Till 10 years back, the US and European multinational companies were dominating the telecom equipments manufacturing. But, the Huawei has shattered them and has emerged as the world’s largest manufacturer of telecom equipments now. The US does not want a company of a 3rd world country to become this much dominant in the area of modern technology. At present, Huawei is leading the world, in the 5G technology. The US tried it’s best to stop it’s European allies, from purchasing 5G network equipments from Huawei. But, it was not accepted by the European countries. Out of frustration, the US government has now black listed Huawei. The US imperialism wants to remain as the sole proprietor of modern technologies, so that it’s multinational companies can loot the wealth of the 3rd world countries. However, it is upset that Huawei, a company of a 3rd world country, has defeated it, in the race for hi-technology. The black listing of Huawei has come out the frustration of the US imperialism.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi nominated to the Rajya Sabha – many eyebrows are raised.

Former Chief Justice of India, justice Ranjan Gogoi, has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha, by President, Ramnath Kovind. This has raised the eyebrows of many. It is being pointed out that, if such high positions are offered to judges after their retirement, then it will lead to favouritism and nepotism in the judiciary. The judiciary will lose it’s independence and will become subordinate to the government. Recently, justice Muralidhar, who criticised the BJP leaders for the Delhi riots, was transferred in the midnight. A message is being sent that, those judges criticise the government and the ruling party will be punished and those judges who favour them will be rewarded. This is not good for Indian democracy.

BSNL should get market price and not throw away price in land monetisation - every employee, union, association has to be vigilant.

BSNLEU wishes to make it very clear that 'Land Monetisation' was not a demand of the BSNLEU / AUAB at all. The AUAB only demanded that the DoT should give approval for BSNL’s “Land Management Policy”, which is for leasing out and renting out BSNL’s vacant lands and buildings. However, in it’s Revival Package, announced on 23.10.2019, the government decided to monetise BSNL’s assets.

In this matter, every employee of BSNL as well as unions and associations have to be very cautious. It is because, every effort will be made by the government to grab BSNL’s lands at a throw away price and to hand it over to the corporates. We must not forget that, after coming to power in 2014, the BJP government passed 3 ordinances to grab lands of the poor peasants  and to hand over them to corporates. However, only through  nationwide militant struggles of the Kisans and democratic forces, the attempts of the Modi government were defeated. Hence, similar land grabbing attempts may be made in BSNL also.

Hence, we  have to ensure that the transactions are transparent. Each and every employee, union, association has to remain vigilant to ensure that BSNL gets market price, and not a throw away price, in the land monetisation. The All India Centre of BSNLEU, which met yesterday, called upon every employee, union, association to remain vigilant to ensure this.
