General Secretaries of the constituents of the AUAB met Shri P.K.Purwar, CMD BSNL, today, and discussed about the non-payment of GPF amount and leave encashment amount to Com.Kabeer Das, Ex.GS, BSNLOA. Even though, Com.Kabeer Das, retired 8 months ago, the BSNL Management is harassing him, by not paying even the GPF and leave encashment amounts, under the pretext that he has been served notice under FR 17(A). The AUAB leaders took strong exception to the vindictive attitude of the Management. The CMD BSNL assured to look into the matter and to do the needful within a week. The AUAB leaders also insisted upon the CMD BSNL to immediately withdraw the notices issued under FR 17(A).
As per the Government's direction, The Public Sector BSNL has already exempted it’s prepaid mobile customers from recharging, till April 20, 2020, in view of the Corona Virus pandemic. However, the private companies, viz., Airtel, Vodafone Idea and Jio are playing tricks and have not carried out the governments’ direction. As a result, the TRAI has pulled them up. The TRAI has pointed out that, Airtel and Vodafone Idea had followed a selective approach in extending the validity period, as a result of which a large number of their prepaid customers are remaining without 2G connectivity, since they are unable to recharge. Similarly, Jio has also played a trick. Instead of extending the validity period, it has credited 100 minutes of calls to those subscribers whose validity period has expired. But, this 100 minutes’ credit was not given to those customers whose validity period has not expired, even though they are having zero balance.

The Tamil Nadu circle union of BSNLEU took the unique initiative of organising a convention of the Directly Recruited JEs. It was held at Pondicherry on 07-01-2018. 100 DR JEs had given their commitment for attending the Convention. However, the lightning indefinite strike started by the State Bus Transport workers threw a very big problem. Virtually, the bus transport came to a standstill. Twelve DR JEs participated beautifully in the discussion, and put forth very valid views. Many of them expressed serious concerns, about the problems being faced, in improving the quality of service. General Secretary assured that the issues would be taken at the appropriate level, including the Board of Directors and the CMD BSNL. The Convention came to an end with the vote of thanks.
