As per the decision of the All Unions and Associations of BSNL, 5 day Satyagraha and Work According to Rule struggles are to be organised from 30-01-2018, at all levels. Pandals have to be erected for the Satyagraha, and each and employee should be made to participate in the Satyagraha. Comrades should understand that this is not a normal situation. It is a "Do or Die" situation. If we are not able to create sufficient pressure on the government at this juncture, then the future of BSNL and the employees is going to be doomed for ever. The Director (HR) had invited General Secretaries of BSNLEU and NFTE for a discussion today, in connection with the call given for Sathyagraha and indefinite Work According to Rule. Accordingly, Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, BSNLEU, and Com. Rajamouli, Treasurer, NFTE, attended the meeting. The Director (HR) appealed to the representatives not to do anything that would further deteriorate the already strained financial condition of the Company. Com.P.Abhimnayu, GS, told the Director (HR) that the employees are in a do or die situation, in view of formation of Subsidiary Tower Company and denial of wage revision to the employees. The Unions and Associations of BSNL are left with no other option, but to go ahead with the Sathyagraha and Work According to Rule struggles, as has already been announced, told the GS, BSNLEU. The Director (HR) informed that a similar meeting would be held with the Executive Associations on Monday.
In the meeting held with the Director (HR) today, Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, expressed his serious concern over the non-implementation / dilution of the decisions taken in the National Council meeting. The GS pointed out that decisions taken in respect of the items like stopping the illegal recovery of employees contribution of EPF arrears, granting Group ‘B’ status and pay scale to the Senior Accountants, violation of Corporate Office orders on contract workers, etc., are cited as examples. The GS told that he would give a note to the Management in this regard. The Director (HR) felt unhappy and assured that needful remedial action would be taken.
The first meeting of the Standing Committee was held today, chaired by Shri A.M.Gupta, GM(SR). Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS, Com.Balbir Singh, President and Com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS represented BSNLEU in the meeting. Implementation of all the decisions taken in the 35th meeting of the National Council were reviewed in the meeting.
A meeting of “All Unions and Associations of BSNL” was held at New Delhi today. Com. Suresh Kumar, GS, BSNL MS, presided over the meeting. General Secretaries / Representatives of BSNLEU, NFTE, SNEA, AIBSNLEA, FNTO, SEWA BSNL, BSNL MS, BSNL ATM and BSNL OA, participated in the meeting. The following decisions are taken:-
The meeting decided to effectively organise the Indefinite Work According to Rule from 30.01.2018. This programme is to be effectively organised in all circles.
Full day Sathyagraha agitation is to be effectively organised for 5 days from 30.01.2018 at Corporate Office, circle and district levels.
Steering Committees (consisting of BSNLEU, NFTE, SNEA and AIBSNLEA) are to be formed in all circles and districts to effectively plan and organise the struggles. The Steering Committees will meet as and when required for giving necessary guidance.
Poster will be designed and uploaded on the websites of the Unions and Associations. These posters shall be printed by the circle unions (in the regional languages if necessary) and distributed to all the stations.
Three and half years ago, Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of India. He told the people of this country that he had come from poor, family and that, he would take every effort to help the poor. However, let us see, who is benefited from the policies and efforts of the Narendra Modi government. Ahead of the World Economic Forum meeting being held at Davos, the Oxfam has released it’s report. According to this report, 73% of the total wealth generated in our country in 2017, has gone to the richest 1% Indians. At the same time, the bottom 67 crore Indians have got only 1% of the wealth increase. The wealth of these richest 1% Indians has increased by Rs.20,913 billion in last year. Further, in 2017 alone, 17 new dollar billionaires have come up in India. Now the total number of dollar billionaires in India is 101. Internationally, 82% of the new wealth created in 2017 has gone to the richest 1% people. Everyday two new dollar billionaires have come up in the world. Now, let the ruling BJP and it’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, tell the people of this country, how their economic policy is different from the economic policy of the Congress Party. Whatever pro-corporate and anti-worker policy that was followed by the Manmohan Singh government from 2004 to 2010, is being followed with more vigour by the Narendra Modi government.

The first meeting of the re-constituted Standing Committee of the National Council, will be meeting tomorrow. This meeting will review the implementation of the decisions of the 35th meeting of the National Council, held on 11.05.2017 & 13.11.2017.
A meeting of the “All Unions and Associations of BSNL” will be held at New Delhi tomorrow. The meeting will take place at BSNL MS office, Atul Grove Road. The meeting will discuss and decide about the details, as per which the Satyagraha (from 30.01.2018 to 03.02.2018) and the Work According to Rule struggles are to be conducted.
BSNLEU, Madhya Pradesh circle, organised an inspiring convention of the DR JEs at Indore yesterday. Totally, 110 comrades attended the convention, including 54 DR JEs. Com. M.K. Tavrech, District Secretary, BSNLEU, Indore, welcomed everyone. Com. B.S. Raghuvanshi, Circle President, presided over. Com. Prakash Sharma, CS, BSNLEU, Madhya Pradesh, delivered the introductory speech. Thereafter, Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, spoke at length on the efforts taken by BSNLEU to get justice to the 2,700 DR JE selected candidates, the role played by BSNLEU in settling important issues of the JE (erstwhile TTA) cadre, efforts being taken for the revival of BSNL, struggle against formation of Subsidiary Tower Company, anti-worker and pro-corporate policies of the government, etc. Thereafter, 15 DR JEs participated in the discussion and elucidated their views brilliantly. It was heartening to note that many of the participants gave valid suggestions to improve the quality of services. Ultimately, Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS, summed up the discussion and replied to the various queries raised by the DR JEs. The General Secretary also assured that their suggestions for improvement of the services would be taken up with the highest level of BSNL Management. The meeting came to an end with rousing slogans. CHQ heartily congratulates the Madhya Pradesh circle union for successfully organising a very effective convention of the DR JEs.
It has been recognised by the scientific community throughout the world that, Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution of man is scientifically correct. However, the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Satyapal Singh has stirred a controversy by claiming that the theory of evolution of man was scientifically wrong and that, it should be removed from the school and college books. The minister has also claimed that the books written by our fore fathers did not say that, they saw an ape turning into a man. The Indian National Science Academy, The National Academy of Sciences and The Indian Academy of Science have criticised the statement made by the Minister. Scientists and students from institutions across the country have strongly condemned the statement of the Minister. The statement of the Minister is seen as a part of the larger agenda of the RSS, to change the text books, to suite it’s communal agenda.
CHQ is extremely saddened to know that Com. A.K. Solanki, District Secretary, WTR, Gujarat circle, has passed away early morning today, due to heart attack. He was 59 years old. BSNLEU pays it’s respectful homage to Com. A.K. Solanki and conveys it’s heartfelt condolences to the family members, friends and relatives of the departed comrade.
Shri Narottam Prasad Shrivastava, aged 86, father of Shri Anupam Shrivastava, CMD BSNL, passed away in a Bhopal hospital today. He has been ailing for some time. We offer our heartfelt condolences to Shri Anupam Shrivastava, CMD BSNL, and to his family.
Due to the advancement of technology, it became incumbent on the part of BSNLEU also, to run it’s website with updated technology. Thus, the new website bsnleu.in was started at the time of our last CEC meeting, held at New Delhi. This new website is mobile friendly, and is having a lot of new features. The old website, i.e., bsnleuchq.com was started on 21.09.2005 and has served our organisation for the last 12 years. It has been a great tool to educate not only our members, but the entire BSNL Non-Executives and Executives. Everything changes and we also have to change. Let us march ahead. As per the statement of TRAI, as of 31st November, 2017, the total telephone connections in the country stood at 1186.29 million. Out of this, BSNL’s connections were 120.39 million. According to this BSNL’s market share comes to 10.15%, and BSNL is placed in the 5th place according to market share. The market shares of other operators are as follows:-
Bharti Airtel : 24.74% ; Vodafone : 17.80% ; Idea : 16.36% and Reliance Jio : 12.82%
Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS and Com. Ramesh Chand, Org. Secretary (CHQ), had meeting with Shri Anupam Shrivastava, CMD BSNL, yesterday and discussed the following issues:-
The Union representatives urged upon the CMD BSNL to take necessary steps to stop the extensive damages being caused to BSNL’s optic fibre cables, as well as copper cables. They pointed out that the cables of private operators are not being damaged the way in which BSNL’s cables are being damaged. It was also pointed out that the authorities at the circle and district levels should take sufficient precautionary steps, to stop our cables being damaged, and also immediate criminal proceedings should be initiated whenever our cables are damaged. The CMD BSNL assured that needful action would be taken.
The Union representatives pointed out that there is very good demand for BSNL’s FTTH connections from the public, whereas BSNL is not able to provide the connections on time, due to acute short supply of equipments, such as 12 volt battery, UPS, Splitters (1×2) and (1×4), etc. The CMD BSNL assured that needful action would be taken to overcome the short supply.
The Union representatives regretfully pointed out that BSNLEU, which is the largest trade union organisation of the employees in BSNL, has not been provided with representation in the Pension and Gratuity Fund Trusts. They also told that no action has been taken, even after the attention of the Management has already been drawn in this regard, many months ago. The CMD BSNL assured to look into this and to take necessary steps.
Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS and Com. Ramesh Chand, Org. Secretary (CHQ), met Shri H.C. Pant, CGM (Legal), BSNL CO, yesterday and discussed the following issues:-
Even after the conclusion of the case, that had been lingering on in the Ernakulam High Court, BSNL Management is not accepting non-members being nominated by the Recognised Union, to the councils. BSNLEU has already raised this issue a number of times. However, the Management continues to deny nomination of non-members to the councils. This issue was discussed in detail with the Shri H.C. Pant, CGM (Legal) yesterday. And the end of the meeting it was decided that another round of discussion would be held shortly between BSNLEU, CGM (Legal) and the GM (SR), to find a solution to this issue.
In addition to the discussion held with the CMD BSNL, this issue was also discussed with the CGM (Legal). BSNLEU explained in detail it’s justification for making the claim. The CGM (Legal) assured that the matter would be looked into.
Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS and Com. Ramesh Chand, Org. Secretary (CHQ), met Shri A.M. Gupta, GM(SR), yesterday and demanded that the 36th meeting of the National Council should be conducted in the month of March, 2018. They pointed out that only one meeting of the National Council has been held after the 7th Membership Verification, and demanded that, atleast hereafter the National Council meeting should be held once in three months. The GM (SR) assured to take needful action to hold the NC meeting in March, 2018.
Today’s Times of India has reported that the RSS is greatly annoyed with Virjesh Upadhyay, the General Secretary of BMS, and it is on the way of removing him from the post. The anti-BJP and anti-Modi government stand, being taken by Virjesh Upadhyay is said to be the reason, as per the report. However, fact remains that the BMS, which claims to be the biggest trade union in India, has dissociated with other Central Trade Unions. BMS did not join the last two General Strikes that had taken place in 2015 and 2016, opposing the anti-worker and pro-corporate policies of the Modi government. Further, the BMS also did not participate in the historic “Mahapadav” that shook Delhi on 09th, 10th & 11th November, 2017. Both these struggles were organised by the entire Central Trade Unions. The BMS did not participate in these struggles, because both the BMS and the BJP belong to the RSS family. Despite this being the fact, even one or two speeches made by Virjesh Upadhyay, General Secretary of BMS, criticising the policies of the Modi government, are not acceptable to the RSS. RSS claims itself to be a “non-political”, “cultural” organisation. As such, why it should intervene in the functioning of a trade union?
