5 million jobs lost between 2016 and 2018 - says a study of the Azim Premji University.

It is shocking to know that 5 million Indians have lost their jobs between 2016 and 2018. This is mentioned in the State of Working India (SWI) 2019 Report, released yesterday by the Bengaluru based Azim Premji University. It may be recollected that the Demonetisation was implemented in November,2016. This report of Azim Premji University confirms the accusations of economists that lakhs of jobs were lost due to Demonetisation. Unemployment is one of the biggest problems being faced by the nation. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi came to power, by assuring to create 2 crore jobs per year. He miserably failed in fulfilling this promise.

Call will be given to the employees for the withdrawal of VRS option – Trade Unions warn the Secretary, Telecom and the CMD BSNL.

Without knowing the pit falls in the VRS 2019, a large number of employees have opted for VRS. Without settling many issues related to the VRS, the BSNL Management is forcing the employees to go on VRS. Commutation of pension, eligibility for 3rd PRC retrospectively, honouring the commitment given in 2000, about retirement age, threats of transfers and workload, are some of the important issues need to be sorted out. Those who go on VRS will face heavy loss if pension commutation and eligibility to 3rd PRC issues are not settled. The one day hunger strike on 25.11.2019, has been called on by BSNLEU, BTEU, FNTO, BSNL MS, BSNL ATM and BSNL OA, demanding to sort out the issues urgently. These organisations have written to the Secretary, Telecom and to the CMD BSNL that the employees will be called on to withdraw their VRS options, if these issues are not settled.

Decisions of the AUAB with regards to the "BSNL at your door steps" movement.

The decisions taken by the AUAB, with regards to the implementation of the “BSNL at your door steps” movement, is reproduced hereunder once again, for the benefit of our comrades.

In the AUAB meeting held on 04.07.2018, under the Chairmanship of Com. Prahlad Rai, GS, AIBSNLEA, took the following decisions, with regards to the implementation of “BSNL at your door steps” movement.

  1. Each and every Non-Executive and Executive has to dedicate one day in a week, for participating in sales and marketing activities. (This is for the employees, other than those who are posted in the marketing.)
  2. Separate committees at circle and district levels should be formed for marketing FTTH, Broadband, Leased lines and mobile connections. These committees should periodically meet and review the improvements that have been made.

The CHQ of BSNLEU requests all circle and district secretaries to take immediate steps, to implement the decisions of the AUAB, in close coordination with the other constituents of the AUAB.

Victory has a hundred fathers..

There is a saying in English that,

Victory has a hundred fathers and

defeat is always an orphan”.

This saying has once again proved to be correct. The AUAB has made one more break through on the Pension Revision issue of BSNL retirees. So far, the DoT had been maintaining that BSNL retirees can get pension revision only when the serving employees get Pay Revision. This has been intimated in writing by the DoT, to the CMD BSNL. BSNLEU has strongly taken a stand that Pension Revision should not be linked with the Pay Revision of serving employees. Similarly, many other organisations have also taken up this issue. But everyone knows that this issue has been finally settled only by the powerful jolt given by the AUAB. In the backdrop of the immense pressure generated on the government, due to the massive preparations to go on indefinite strike by the entire Executives and Non-Executives in BSNL, the Secretary, Telecom, invited the AUAB for talks on 02.12.2018. It was in this meeting that, for the first time, it was informed by the Secretary, Telecom, that the DoT has decided to delink the Pension Revision from the Pay Revision of the employees. This is the fact. However, it is ludicrous that some people are now claiming that this is their achievement, without recognising the massive efforts taken by the entire Executives and Non-Executives throughout the country, under the leadership of the AUAB.

Four senior most judges of the Supreme Court accuse that sensitive cases are not being handed over to them.

In a totally unprecedented move, four senior most judges of the Supreme Court, revolted against the Chief Justice of India yesterday. Justice J. Chelemeswar, who is the senior most judge of the Supreme Court, next to the Chief Justice, together with justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Madan B Lokur and Justice Kurian Joseph conducted a press meet yesterday, to air their views. They accused that “cases of far-reaching importance to the nation” were being selectively given to junior judges, and that senior judges were being ignored. The one case that has made the four senior-most judges to revolt is, the one related to ‘the mysterious death of judge B.H.Loya’. The CBI special court judge, B.H.Loya, died under mysterious circumstances last year, and his family members had raised suspicion about his death. It is also very important to note that, at the time of his death, judge B.H.Loya was hearing the fake encounter pawn you case of “Sohrabuddin Sheikh”, in which the BJP President, Amit Shah is the main accused. Before conducting the press conference, the four judges approached the Chief Justice, and requested him to take corrective steps, which was not accepted. The Supreme Court is the guardian of the Constitution and democracy in our country. At a time when the democracy of the nation is under attack, it is worrying to note that, allegations have surfaced regarding the fairness and transparency of the Supreme Court.

Staff Side of the Joint Wage Negotiating Committee reviews the progress in wage revision.

A meeting of the Staff Side of the Joint Wage Negotiating Committee was held yesterday the 25.09.2018, at NFTE’s office. The meeting was attended by Com.P. Abhimanyu, GS, BSNLEU, Com. Chandeshwar Singh, GS, NFTE, Com. Islam Ahmed, President, NFTE, Com. Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, BSNLEU, Com. K.S. Sheshadri, Dy.GS, NFTE, Com. Animesh Mitra, Vice President, BSNLEU and A. Rajamouli, Treasurer, NFTE. The meeting took stock of the progress of the ongoing wage negotiation. Especially, once again the pay scales proposed by the Management Side were scrutinised. No live case has come to the notice of the Staff Side, wherein stagnation is likely to arise. The meeting is also of the opinion that the agreement on the pay scales should be signed expeditiously, for onward submission for the approval of the DoT. Further, it is also decided that the negotiation on allowances and perks should be started immediately. It should be noted that the approval of the DoT is necessary only for the pay scales. So far as the perks and allowances are concerned, they need not go to the approval of the DoT, since the BSNL Board itself is empowered to approve them.

Hindi translation of "5 million jobs lost between 2016 and 2018 - says a study of the Azim Premji University."
