As all are aware, BSNLEU took the initiative for the implementation of a Group Health Insurance Scheme for the employees. The MoU signed between BSNL and the New India Assurance Company was cancelled. Thereafter, the Corporate Office invited quotations from Insurance Companies. However, the premium amount quoted by these companies are very high. Hence, a stalemate has come. Under these circumstances, Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS and Com.Anand Kumar Singh, AGS, met Shri S.P. Singh, GM(Admn.), yesterday and demanded that the Management should take steps to break the deadlock and to implement a Health Insurance Scheme without further delay. The GM (Admn.) assured that needful action would be taken.
The 3rd meeting of the reconstituted Wage Revision Committee is held today. The Staff Side members strongly argued for Wage Revision with 5% fitment. They also demanded that the pay scales already finalised by the Wage Revision Committee, should be implemented without any change. After a lot of discussions, the following decisions were taken.
AUAB organised a Twitter Campaign on 08.03.2022, against the arbitrary order issued by the DoT, for grabbing the ALTTC, Ghaziabad, which is BSNL’s prestigious training centre. The Twitter Campaign was also organised against the arbitrary grabbing of BSNL’s lands, buildings and office spaces in various circles. This Twitter Campaign organised by the AUAB was highly successful. More than 10,000 tweets were made and it became trending. BSNLEU heartily congratulates all the comrades who actively took part in the Twitter Campaign.
SNATTA is organising black badge wearing demonstrations on 14.03.2022, on important issues, including the issue of non-availability of sufficient vacancies for the JTO LICE. The All India Centre meeting of BSNLEU, held online on 05.03.2022 has decided to support this agitation. Hence, the CHQ requests members of BSNLEU to join the black badge wearing demonstrations to be organised on 14.03.2022, by SNATTA.
BSNLEU observed the International Working Women’s Day yesterday the 08.03.2022. The BSNL Working Women’s Co-ordination Committee organised a very good Facebook live programme, addressed by Com.A.R. Sindhu, Secretary, CITU and Com.P. Indira, Convenor, BSNLWWCC. Various circle unions of BSNLEU have also organised the programme effectively.
The CHQ has already given call to organise a week long “Meet the Employees programme”, from 8th March, 2022. The CHQ has also directed that the pamphlets issued by the CHQ for organising the General Strike, should be distributed to each and every employee during this “Meet the Employees programme”. During this programme, each and every employee should be personally met and convinced for joining the forthcoming General Strike, to be organised on 28th & 29th March, 2022. If the programme is not yet started, then it should be conducted for one full week from the date on which it is started. This is a very important task for organising the General Strike. Hence, circle secretaries are requested to kindly ensure that the “Meet the Employees programme” is successfully organised in each and every district. Photos and reports about the programme may be e-mailed to the CHQ on bsnleuchq@gmail.com.
The Co-ordination Committee of BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF has given call for black badge wearing demonstrations and submitting of memorandum to the GMs and CGMs, to be organised tomorrow the 10.03.2022, on the following demands.
All circle and district unions are requested to mobilise maximum number of employees, pensioners and contract workers in tomorrow’s programme and make it a grand success.
As per the call of the Co-ordination Committee (CoC), memorandum is to be submitted to the GMs and CGMs on the burning issues of the Non-Executives, pensioners and contract workers. Copy of the memorandum is already sent through WhatsApp to the circle secretaries and CHQ office bearers. A copy of the same is enclosed herewith.
The Co-Ordination Committee (CoC) of BSNLEU, AIBDPA and BSNLCCWF gave call to organise black badge wearing demonstrations and submitting of memorandum to the GMs and CGMs on 25.01.2022. However, this programme could not be organised due to the third wave of the COVID-19. Now, the CoC has decided to organise this programme on 10.03.2022. All the circle and district unions are requested to organise this programme successfully, demanding settlement of the following issues.
The BSNL Management is deliberately delaying payment of the frozen IDA arrears to the Non-Executives. The Management is taking revenge and not paying the IDA arrears, since BSNLEU took the matter to the Hon’ble Kerala High Court, against the freezing of the IDA.
Blatant discrimination is being meted out to the retired employees, by the BSNL Management, in the matter of payment of medical bills. The Management is intentionally delaying the payment of medical bills to the retired employees, with the view to force them to leave the BSNL MRS and migrate to the CGHS. Payment of Medical Allowance to the retired employees had also been stopped.
The BSNL Management is treating the Non-Executives with stepmotherly attitude, in the matter of promotion. The Management is conducting eye-wash JTO LICE and JE LICE after abolishing maximum of the promotional posts of the Non-Executive cadres. Further unrealistic condition is being imposed in the JAO RR, which warrants 5 years of service in the NE-9 pay scale for appearing in the JAO LICE.
Management is not paying the wage arrears of the contract workers. In many places, wages are not paid to the contract workers even up to 18 months. This is also nothing but the vindictive action of the CMD BSNL.
It is International Working Women’s Day today. BSNLEU conveys it’s revolutionary greetings to all the working women. On this day, let us resolve to raise our voices against all injustices being meted out to women. Let us resolve to fight for equality to women. Let us stand up against sexual harassments in work places in BSNL.
The BSNL Working Women’s Coordination Committee and BSNLEU are organising a Facebook live program today, on the International Working Women’s Day. The live program will start at 7 pm. Com.A.R. Sindhu, Secretary, CITU, will be delivering special address. All the circle and district secretaries are requested to take efforts to ensure that, the maximum number of comrades view this Facebook live program.
The BSNL Management had already banned compassionate ground appointments in BSNL. BSNLEU has been pressing on the Management to lift this ban. Around 250 BSNL employees have died due to Covid -19. Apart from this, employees die in accidents, while on duty. It is the duty of the BSNL Management to provide Compassionate Ground Appointments to the dependents of the employees who have died under the above mentioned circumstances. However, the BSNL Management issued letter yesterday, extending the ban on compassionate ground appointments beyond 31-03-2022. This is a retrograde step by the BSNL Management. BSNLEU deplores this action of the Management and demands to immediately lift the ban on Compassionate Ground Appointments.
