[email protected]A special convention, called on by BSNLEU, AIBDPA and Contract Workers Union (CTTMU), Kolkata Telephones, was held yesterday the 04-05-2018, in the CTO hall Kolkata. The Convention was called to discuss about the ways and means to improve the quality of service, and in that process, to make Kolkata Telephones a profit making circle. A presidium consisting of Com. Supriya Mitra, Com. Prabir Dutta and Com.Tapas Banerjee presided over the Convention. Com.Sisir Roy, CS, BSNLEU, welcomed everyone and addressed the Convention. Shri S.P. Tripathi, CGM, Com. Subhasis Mitra, CS, AIBSNLEA, Com. Sanjib Banerjee, CS, AIBDPA, Com. Arup Sarkar, CS, CTTMU, Com. Biplab Das, Secretary, BSNLCC, Com. Jitendra Balmiki, CS, SEWA BSNL etc., addressed the Convention. Many important decisions were taken in the Convention to immediately improve the quality of quality of services. CHQ heartily congratulates the Kolkata telephones circle union for taking the initiative.
Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, who is presently in Port Blair, for attending the circle conference of Andaman and Nicobar circle, met Shri V.Jagadeesan, CGM, yesterday. Com.S.P.Kalairajan, Circle Secretary and other circle leaders accompanied. The GS discussed about the developmental activities of BSNL in the circle. During the discussion, the GS seriously raised the issue of acute shortage of staff in A&N circle, especially in the Non-Executive cadres. The GS suggested that the circle administration should raise this issue with the Corporate Office. BSNLEU has already raised the issue with the Corporate Management. Once again the issue will be raised vigorously.
The AUAB has given call to conduct Street Corner meetings, from 7th to 11th May,2018. CHQ of BSNLEU calls upon the circle and district unions, to coordinate with the other constituents of the AUAB, and to successfully conduct this week-long campaign. The main purpose of this campaign is to go to the people and tell them about the anti-BSNL and anti-Public Sector policies being adopted by the government. Main focus of this campaign should be the issue of Subsidiary Tower Company. The government's game-plan, to kill BSNL by breaking it to pieces, through formation of the Subsidiary Tower Company, should be well explained to the people. Flex banners carrying slogans against Subsidiary Tower Company should be displayed prominently, throughout the campaign. The flex banners, used by the AUAB, in the demonstration held in front of Sanchar Bhawan, is once again uploaded on the website. Similar flex banners can be printed and used.
The Circle Executive Committee meeting of Haryana circle was held at Kurukshetra on 04th May, 2018. Com. Naresh, Circle President, presided over the meeting. At the outset, Com. M.S. Kadiyan, CS, explained the background for holding such a meeting, as per the decision the CEC meeting, held at Agartala. Com. Animesh Mitra, Vice President (CHQ), explained the decisions of the CEC meeting, held at Agartala. He called upon the district secretaries to effectively organise the Call Attention Day on 3rd May, the Street Corner meetings from 7th to 11th May, 2018, as well as to implement the other decisions of the CEC. Com. Ramesh Chand, Org. Secretary (CHQ), also spoke on the subject. In the morning the CGM, Haryana addressed and explained about the ongoing developmental activities in Haryana circle.
Utilising the visit of Shri Anupam Shrivastava, CMD BSNL, to Srinagar, leaders of the unions and associations of BSNL met him, and impressed upon him the need to accelerate BSNL's developmental activities in J&K circle. It is worth mentioning that J&K is a profit- earning circle of BSNL. Despite various constraints, J&K circle earned a profit of Rs 11 cores in 2015-16. In the financial year 2016-17, this amount increased to Rs. 29 cores. The results of 2017-18 are awaited. BSNLEU, J&K circle union is taking keen interest in improving the quality of services. The circle union has attracted the attention of the CMD BSNL, by presenting a memorandum on important issues like shortage of staff , Non-availability of and equipments and materials, etc.
The All Unions and Associations of BSNL, had decided to conduct week long campaign programme throughout the country, from 7th to 11th May, 2018, demanding the rolling back of the Subsidiary Tower Company, as well as opposing the anti-BSNL and anti- Public Sector policies of the government. In accordance with this call, the programme of conducting street corner meetings has started throughout the country in right earnest. CHQ calls upon the circle and district unions to effectively organise this programme and send report and photos to the CHQ.
The circle conference of BSNLEU, Andaman and Nicobar circle, was held enthusiastically at Port Blair, yesterday the 06-05-2018. A&N is a very small circle, far away from the Indian mainland. However, the militant comrades of this circle, keep the BSNLEU flag flying high, despite many adversities. The circle conference also truly reflected this picture. Comrades working in the remote Diglipur, the northern most part of the Islands, as well as the comrades working in the far off Campbell Bay, the southern most part, enthusiastically participated in the Conference. The Union Flag was hoisted by Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary. Com.S.P.Kalairajan, circle secretary, welcomed everyone. Com.Rajagopal, circle president, presided over. The inaugural address was delivered by Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS. He dealt at length on the issue of wage revision, and other issues of the Non-Executives. Deliberations took place on the report submitted by Com.S.P.Kalairajan, CS. An impressive Open Session was held in the post-lunch session. It was addressed by Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, Shri V.Jagadeesan, CGM, Com.D.Ayyappan, GS, Gazetted Officer's Association, Com.K.G.Das, former GS, NGO's Association, Com. Vinod Krishna, CS, SNEA, addressed it. Unanimous election of office bearers was held. Later in the evening, Com.Abhimanyu, GS, addressed a meeting of the Contract Workers and explained about their various problems and the steps being taken by BSNLEU and the BSNLCCWF.
Circle Executive Committee Meeting of Uttarakhand, Circle was held at Dehradun on 06.05.2018. The meeting was presided over by Com. Ganesh Prasad Kala, Circle President. Com. K.S Soun, presented the report on activities and explained about the implementation of decisions of AIC Chennai, CEC meetings of Trivandrum and New Delhi. Com. Balbir Singh, President, explained the decisions of Agartala, CEC, meeting and briefed the further agitational programmes. The sustained struggle against the subsidiary "Tower Company of BSNL" and for wage revision of BSNL Employees were also explained. He called upon the comrades to conduct the Massive campaign against formation of Tower Company from May 7th to 11th, 2018.The CEC, seriously noted that the Uttarakhand, Circle Management is indulging in wasteful expenditures. Uttarakhand comrades assured to implement all the agitational programmes of BSNLEU and the AUAB. Com. P.B Dobhal, former CHQ office bearer also addressed the meeting. Com.J.P.Kothari, Vice President gave vote of thanks.
The Street corner meetings, against the Subsidiary Tower Company, and against the anti-BSNL / anti-PSUs policies of the government are going on throughout the country. Some views of the programme are given below:-
A meeting of the All Unions and Associations was held today at New Delhi, in the AIBSNLEA office. Com. Chandeswar Singh, GS, NFTE, presided over. Representatives of BSNLEU, NFTE, SNEA, AIBSNLEA, FNTO, SEWA BSNL, AIGETOA, BSNL MS, BSNL ATM and BSNL OA, participated. The meeting called upon the circle and district level leaders of the AUAB to organise the Street Corner Meetings more intensively. The meeting directed that the issue of Subsidiary Tower Company, anti-BSNL and anti-Public Sector policies of the government should be thoroughly exposed amongst the general public. As regards, the All India Convention against the Subsidiary Tower Company, the meeting decided this convention should be organised between 5th & 20th June, 2018, depending upon the availability of the hall.
The All Unions and Associations of BSNL is continuously organising struggles, demanding the rolling back of the Subsidiary Tower Company. At the same time, the AUAB meeting held on 27.03.2018, decided to explore the possibility of taking legal action on this issue. The responsibility for making legal consultations was given to Com. G.L. Jogi, Chairman, SNEA and Com. Prahlad Rai, GS, AIBSNLEA. Based on the suggestions given by these two comrades, the AUAB meeting held today, after threadbare discussion, decided to take legal action against the Subsidiary Tower Company.
The two-day CEC, meeting of BSNLEU, Rajasthan, started at Sawai Madhopur today with National flag Hoisting by Com. Balbir Singh, President, BSNLEU and Union flag hoisting by Com. Kamal Singh, Gohil, Circle President. In the forenoon session a Seminar on, "Present Challenges, Before BSNL, and its solutions" was conducted. At the outset Com.Gansham, Meena, District Secretary, Sawai Madhopur, welcomed the participants. Com. Ashok Pareek, Circle Secretary, initiated the debate on the subject matter. Com. Balbir Singh, President elaborately explained the anti BSNL, policies of successive Governments which are responsible for the present problems of BSNL. He said that defeating these policies is the only solution to improve the present position of the BSNL. The Principal, General Manager Telecom, Shri S.S Aggarwal, GM(HR) Shri B.L Meena, Rajasthan Circle and GMTD, Sawai Madhopur, represented the Rajasthan Circle Management in the Seminar. Com.Vijay Singh, Organising Secretary (CHQ), Com.Kamal Singh Gohil, Circle President, BSNLEU, also addressed the Seminar. Com. P.K.Jain, District Secretary, BSNLEU, Jaipur, conducted the programme. Com. V.P. Sharma, former Circle President, BSNLEU, Rajasthan, gave vote of thanks.
The All India Convention of Central Public Sector Trade Unions is being held at New Delhi on 30.05.2018. The Convention is being called to oppose the disinvestment / privatisation moves of the government, to oppose the fixed term employment ordinance and demanding immediate settlement of wage revision of the Public Sector employees. The All India Centre meeting of BSNLEU, held today, has decided that all the circle secretaries of BSNLEU should participate in this Convention. Hence, CHQ requests the circle secretaries to attend the meeting without fail.
The meeting called on by the Management to discuss the issue of curtailment of wasteful expenditures, is held today. Representatives of BSNLEU, NFTE, SNEA, AIBSNLEA, FNTO, BSNL ATM and BSNL OA participated. From the Management Side, Shri A M.Gupta,GM(SR) and Shri Y.N.Singh, GM(BFCI) participated. Com. P. Abhimanyu, GS and Com. Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, represented BSNLEU. Representatives of BSNLEU presented the note on curtailment of wasteful expenditure, that has already been submitted to the CMD BSNL. In the meeting BSNLEU strongly demanded that the existing medical facilities of the employees should not be curtailed, in the name of curtailing expenditure. It’s representatives also pointed out that the retrenchment of contract workers will affect restoration of faults and will also affect the companies marketing activities. The Management assured that the suggestions given by BSNLEU, in it’s note submitted to the Management, would be looked into.
Street Corner Meetings are continuing for the 3rd today, against Subsidiary Tower Company and anti-BSNL / anti-Public Sector policies of the government. The photos of the programme, received from various parts of the country, are really encouraging. Despite the extremely hot climate prevailing all over the country, the Street Corner Meetings are getting intensified day by day. CHQ heartily congratulates the leaders of AUAB for taking the pains to organise the programme.
