Payment of wage arrears to contract workers.

The representatives explained about the hardships being faced by the contract workers, due to the non-payment of wages for the past 6 months. They pointed out that 5 contract workers have already committed suicide and the families of other workers are in starvation. The representatives requested the CMD BSNL to release funds for payment of the arrears. The CMD BSNL explained about the financial difficulties being faced by the Company. However, he assured to look into the demand of the Union.

Curtailment of trade union rights and interim stay of Hon’ble Madras High Court.

The representatives brought to the notice of the CMD BSNL, about the gag order dated 02.07.2019, issued by the SR Branch of the BSNL CO., banning all trade union activities till the 8^th Membership Verification. They apprised the CMD BSNL about the order of the Hon’ble Madras High Court, which has granted interim stay to the Corporate Office letter and requested the CMD BSNL to intervene in the matter and to take necessary remedial action.

The last date for filing Income Tax returns is 31^st July, 2019. However, the Central Board for Direct Taxation has extended this time limit for a month. Accordingly, the last date for filing Income Tax returns is 31^st August, 2019. All concerned comrades are requested to take note of this and to do the needful in respect of their filing IT returns.

The next meeting of the AUAB will be held on 01^st August, 2019. This will be a crucial meeting, since it will have to take important decisions in respect of BSNL’s financial revival. The meeting will also decide about AUAB’s future course of action on important issues.

The Digital Communications Commission (DCC) on Wednesday upheld the TRAI's decision to levy a penalty of ₹3,050 crore on Airtel and Vodafone Idea, for denying interconnection ports to Reliance Jio, when it started services three years ago. Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan told this to the reporters yesterday the 24-07-2019. This decision of the Digital Communications Commission is a setback to Airtel and Vodafone Idea, which are already reeling under debt and losses.

A protest demonstration was organised at CGMT office, West Bengal circle yesterday, demanding appropriate action on those who are responsible for the lapses, which led to the fire accident, which has taken place in the Nodal Center, EZBC at Salt Lake, Kolkata on 23^rd July, 2019. The programme was jointly organised by CGMT(Office) & Kolkata SSA district union. The meeting was initiated by Com. Sujoy Sarkar, District Secretary, CGMT (Office), District. Com. Amitava Chattopadhyay, Asstt. Circle Secretary and others addressed and demanded immediate action. Com. Banani Chattopadhyay, President, BSNLEU, WB, presided over.

As per media reports, Shri Anshu Prakash, presently serving as the Additional Secretary, Telecom, has been selected as the new Secretary, Telecom. According to reports, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which met yesterday, has approved the name of Shri Anshu Prakash for the top post in the Department of Telecommunications. Reports appeared in the media yesterday, that the incumbent Secretary, Telecom, Ms.Aruna Sundararajan, who is retiring on superannuation on 31.07.2019, has been given an extension of 3 months. However, late in the evening, reports came that the ACC has approved the name of Shri Anshu Prakash.

डिजिटल कम्युनिकेशन्स कमीशन ने बुधवार को एक वर्ष पूर्व जियो द्वारा अपनी सेवाएं शुरू करते समय एयरटेल और वोडाफोन आईडिया द्वारा रिलायंस जियो को इंटरकनेक्शन पोर्ट्स हेतु इंकार की वजह से ट्राई द्वारा लगाई गई रु 3,050 करोड़ की पेनल्टी के निर्णय को कायम रखा है। यह जानकारी कल दिनांक 24.07.2019 को टेलीकॉम सेक्रेटरी अरुणा सुंदराराजन द्वारा पत्रकारों को दी गई। डिजिटल कम्युनिकेशन्स कमीशन का यह निर्णय पहले से ही कर्ज के बोझ तले दबे और घाटे में चल रहे एयरटेल और वोडाफोन आईडिया के लिए एक बड़ा आघात है।

 

The CHQ of BSNLEU is saddened to know that Com.R.C.Dawka, of Assam, has passed away yesterday the 25-07-2019, at 12:45 pm. Com.R.C.Dawka was one of the pioneers who built up our movement in Assam and in the North East. He had functioned as the circle secretary of the E3 union. BSNLEU dips it's banner and pays respectful homage to Com. R.C.Dawka.

Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS, reached Kathmandu yesterday the 25-07-2019, on a 3 day visit to Nepal. He was warmly welcomed at the Corporate Office of Nepal Telecom, by the leaders of National Telecom Employees Association of Nepal (NTEAN). Thereafter, he participated in a joint meeting of the Nepal Telecom Management and the representatives of the trade union. From the Management Side, Shri D.R.Adhikari, Managing Director, as well as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and many top officers of the Company participated. Com.Yadav Prasad Paneru, President, NTEAN, welcomed every one. Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS, addressed the meeting and explained about the scenario prevailing in the Indian telecom industry. Finally Shri D.R.Adhikari, MD, Nepal Telecom addressed and explained about the activities and contributions of the Nepal Telecom, for the development of Nepal. On behalf of the Nepal Telecom, Shri D.R.Adhikari, MD, presented a memento to Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS.

BSNLEU and BSNL Casual Contract Workers Federation organised massive dharnas throughout the country on 16.07.2019, demanding immediate payment of the wages arrears, which is not paid for the past 6 months. Notice was also issued to the RLC(C) for his intervention. Consequent to this, the RLC(C) conducted a conciliation yesterday the 26.07.2019. From BSNLEU, Com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS and Com.Gakul Borah, Treasurer, attended. 

Representatives of BSNLEU complained that almost 80,000 contract workers, working in BSNL throughout the country, are not paid wages for the past 6 months and as a result of which 5 contract workers have committed suicide. They also reported that, issue was already raised with the CMD BSNL, Director (Finance), BSNL and Director (HR), BSNL, on a number of occasions, but no result has arrived. The Management, representatives submitted that due to the acute financial crisis they were not in a position to make payment. From the meeting, the RLC(C), spoke to the CMD BSNL over phone. The CMD BSNL told the RLC(C) that, he is trying to overcome the problem. Thereafter, the RLC(C) adjourned the meeting with an intent to discuss the matter either by calling or by visiting the Apex level Management of BSNL within a short period and come to reach a settlement, so that at least a part payment is made at the earliest.

Com.P.Abhimanyu,GS, addressed the Central Committee meeting of the National Telecom Employees Association of Nepal (NTEAN) on 25-07-2019. This meeting was specially organised, on the occasion of the visit by the General Secretary of BSNLEU. 55 members of the Central Committee of the NTEAN attended this meeting. Addressing this meeting, Com.P.Abhimanyu spoke elaborately on the scenario prevailing in the telecom sector in India, the pro- private policies of the government and the united struggles being waged by the employees of BSNL, under the banner of the AUAB. He also explained how the WFTU and the TUI Transports and Communications are uniting the working class world over, in the fight against the Neo-Liberal policies, being dictated by the World Bank and the IMF. He urged upon the NTEAN to join the WFTU and the TUI Transports and Communications, to put up an effective fight against the capitalist exploitations.

कॉम पी अभिमन्यु, जीएस ने 25-07-2019 को नेशनल टेलीकॉम एम्प्लॉईज एसोसिएशन ऑफ नेपाल  (NTEAN) की सेंट्रल कमिटी मीटिंग को संबोधित किया। यह मीटिंग BSNLEU के महासचिव कॉम पी अभिमन्यु के नेपाल आगमन के अवसर पर विशेष रूप से आयोजित की गई थी। इस मीटिंग में NTEAN की सेंट्रल कमिटी के 55 सदस्य उपस्थित रहे। मीटिंग को संबोधित करते हुए कॉम पी अभिमन्यु ने भारत मे वर्तमान में टेलीकॉम सेक्टर के परिदृश्य पर अपनी बात रखते हुए सरकार की निजी समर्थक नीतियां और इनका मुकाबला करने के लिए AUAB के बैनर तले BSNL कर्मियों द्वारा किए जा रहे संयुक्त संघर्ष पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने यह भी स्पष्ट किया किया कि किस तरह WFTU और TUI ट्रांसपोर्ट एंड कम्युनिकेशन्स द्वारा वर्ल्ड बैंक और IMF द्वारा डिक्टेट की जा रही नव उदारवादी नीतियों के खिलाफ जारी संघर्ष में वर्किंग क्लास को संगठित किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने NTEAN को आव्हान किया कि वह पूंजीवादी शोषण के खिलाफ प्रभावशाली लड़ाई के लिए WFTU और TUI ट्रांसपोर्ट एंड कम्युनिकेशन्स के साथ जुड़ें।

The three day Extended Central Executive Committee meeting of BSNLEU, started at Pune with great enthusiasm. The National Flag was hoisted by Com. N.K.Nalawade, CS, Maharashtra & Vice-president (CHQ). The Union Red Flag was hoisted by Com.J.Sampath Rao, CS, Telengana & AGS.  Inauguration of the meeting was marked by the lighting of the lamp by senior leaders of the movement. Com.Animesh Mitra, President, is presiding over the meeting. Com.N.K.Nalawade, CS, Maharashtra & VP(CHQ) and Com.Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS, welcomed every one. Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, addressed the meeting and spoke elaborately about the financial problems being faced BSNL, as well as the ways and means to bring the revival of BSNL. The meeting was also addressed by Shri Arvind Vadnerkar, PGM, Pune. After the lunch break, deliberations by the district secretaries started and is going on.

BSNLEU की एक्सटेंडेड सीईसी मीटिंग अदम्य उत्साह के साथ पुणे में प्रारंभ हुई। राष्ट्रीय ध्वज कॉम एन के नलावड़े, सर्किल सेक्रेटरी, महाराष्ट्र और सीएचक्यू उपाध्यक्ष द्वारा फहराया गया। यूनियन का लाल ध्वज कॉम जे संपथ राव, सीएस, तेलंगाना और एजीएस द्वारा फहराया गया। संगठन के वरिष्ठ कॉमरेड्स द्वारा द्वीप प्रज्वलन के साथ मीटिंग प्रारंभ हुई। कॉम अनिमेष मित्रा, अध्यक्ष ने मीटिंग की अध्यक्षता की। कॉम एन के नलावड़े, सर्किल सेक्रेटरी, महाराष्ट्र और सीएचक्यू उपाध्यक्ष एवं कॉम स्वपन चक्रबोर्ति, डिप्टी जीएस ने सभी का स्वागत किया। कॉम पी अभिमन्यु, जीएस ने अपने उद्बोधन में BSNL में विद्यमान वित्तीय संकट और साथ ही BSNL के रिवाइवल हेतु किए जाने वाले उपायों पर विस्तार से प्रकाश डाला। मीटिंग को पुणे के PGM श्री अरविंद वडनेरकर ने भी संबोधित किया। मध्यान्ह में जिला सचिवों द्वारा अपने विचारों की प्रस्तुति शुरू हुई, जो जारी रहेगी।

A meeting of the BSNL Working Women’s Coordination Committee (BSNLWWCC) was held at Pune on 28.07.2019. Com. Banani, Joint Convenor, presided over the meeting. Com.P. Indira, National Convenor of the BSNL WWCC, presented the report on activities, based on which deliberations by the Committee members took place. The meeting was addressed by Com.P.Abhimanyu, GS, Com.Animesh Mitra, President, and Com. Swapan Chakraborty, Dy.GS. The meeting has taken important decisions regarding the revival of BSNL and the forthcoming Membership Verification.

The three day Extended CEC meeting of BSNLEU, which started at Pune, yesterday, is continuing for the second day. The district secretaries are participating in the deliberations. Most of the district secretaries have endorsed the proposals made in the General Secretary’s presentation, regarding the revival of BSNL and the approach of BSNLEU to be adopted in the forthcoming Membership Verification campaign. A meeting of the Central Executive Committee meeting will be taking place tomorrow morning.

The three day Extended CEC meeting of BSNLEU concluded jubilantly today. Deliberations by the district secretaries started day before yesterday and continued for the whole of yesterday. Totally, 83 district secretaries participated in the deliberations. By and large, all of them agreed with a line of approach, as was spelt out in the presentation of the General Secretary. Today, ie., the 3rd day, the meeting was addressed by the senior leaders of the Central Executive Committee. Ultimately, Com.P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, summed up the discussions. In his speech, he explained about the achievements made by BSNLEU during the past three years. He also called upon the district secretaries to strengthen the unity of the Executives and Non-Executives, to fight against the anti-BSNL policies of the government, for strengthening BSNL. Overall, the Extended CEC meeting has generated a very big enthusiasm and hope among the participants. The excellent arrangements made by the Reception Committee, under the leadership of Com.N.K. Nalawade, CS, Maharashtra & VP (CHQ), were appreciated by all. The meeting came to an end with jubilant slogans.

Posters for the campaign for the 8th Membership Verification were released in the Extended CEC meeting of BSNLEU, held at Pune today. The attractive posters are printed in Hind and English. Senior leaders of the Union released the posters today, amidst thundering slogans.
